Streams overview

The Streams page is where you manage your streaming inputs and distribute them to your destinations.

A Stream in Castlify can use one of two input types:

• Video Stream Link — an existing video source such as HLS or DASH.

• RTMP — a live feed sent from an encoder such as OBS, vMix, or Zoom.

What you can do from the Streams page

Create a new stream

Click Create Stream (top-right) to add a new stream.

You can choose:

• Video Stream Link to use an existing video source.

• RTMP to receive a live feed from a live encoder.

Add destinations directly from a stream row

In the Destinations column, each stream shows the destinations already linked to it.

• Click + Destination to add another destination.

• You can select an existing destination or create a new one, depending on your setup.

This is the fastest way to expand a stream from one destination to multiple destinations.

Start / Stop distribution

For Video Stream Link streams:

• Click Start to begin delivering your input to the enabled destinations.

• When running, the stream will show as Distributing.

For RTMP streams:

• Start your encoder and send the RTMP signal to Castlify.

• Once Castlify receives the signal and a destination is enabled, the stream can show as Distributing.

• If no RTMP signal is being received, the stream can show Stopped.

Edit a stream

Use the Edit action to change the settings available for that stream.

For RTMP streams, the stream name can be edited without changing the RTMP connection settings.

For RTMP streams, click RTMP Settings to view the connection details required by your encoder:

• RTMP Server

• Stream Key

Use these values in OBS, vMix, Zoom, or another RTMP-compatible encoder.

Delete a stream

Use the delete action to remove a stream.

Stream status

The status shows what is currently happening with the stream:

• Stopped: the stream is not currently distributing.

• Distributing: Castlify is actively distributing the stream to its enabled destinations.

Destinations

Each stream can have one or more destinations.

If a stream has no destination configured, add one before starting distribution.

Once a destination is enabled, Castlify can distribute the incoming video to that destination.
